Joking about how crazy they must be to release a record the same week as Daft Punk’s album, The Chainsmokers post their soundcloud link to their Facebook and instantly turn this monday around. Stating it is their best remix yet, this perfectly timed Memorial Day Weekend / start of summer track feels too right sitting poolside in 85 degree Florida morning sun. There is something genuinely smile provocking about The Chainsmokers and this release has to be their biggest case.

Say Lou Lou‘s “Julian” original took a much more ambient path, drifting in and out of water drop synths, smokey vocals and and a soft piano. The Chainsmokers build off the comforting vocals of Stockholm’s mysterious indie singers and transform the inspired original into a work of magic for all our summer adverntures. VICE’s newest EDM channel Thump just release their music video for Bingo Player’s “Buzzcut” labeling it as The Greatest Lightshow Ever, and it may be the greatest video ever. Period. Melanie Inglesias is a babe, end of story. The magnitude of this track certainly helps the situation.

Bingo Players have stunned us with this one. From creating bouncy dutch anthems to charting at #1 over and over again on Beatport, these two guys are doing something right, and doing it well. Starting the whole thing off with “When I Dip” (for us at least), the duo has shown us countless release since flipping huge big room synths and adding in catchy bleeps and bloops to catch us off guard.

“Buzzcut” shows us that you don’t need one repetitive note to make a hit in 2013 like many producers chose to take on. The buzzing synth gives the track its name and the two off beat notes and the amazing video give the track its reputation. Out today via their label Hysteria Records. Stay Lifted!

Romanthony, the voice behind Daft Punk’s “One More Time”, reported dead

 Pardon us for sharing so much death within the dance music community but to not recognize the passing of one of dance music’s biggest icons would be wrong. Known best for a line we’ve all sung aloud, Romanthony is the voice behind Daft Punk’s “One More Time” and 1994 anthem “Let Me Show You Love” among many others. Collaborating with Boyz Noise, the Texas resident passed away in his home early this month amd left behind decades of tremendous contributions to the music we know today.

Kanye West debuts track with Daft Punk on SNL

Primal and raw is right. Rumors have been spreading like wildfire about Kanye West’s new album “Yeezus” which is beginning to look as different and groundbreaking as the french duo’s. From broadcasting a track on the side of a Prada building to screaming like a wild animal in the studio, Kanye is going harder than he’s ever gone before. Certainly not robotic and melodic like most Daft Punk tracks, this collaboration drives West to a place he’s never gone before.

Starring Steve Angello, Axwell and Sebastien Ingrosso, Lune has teamed up with Volvo to present her own take on the three swedish superstars single “Leave The World Behind” in a new and contemplative manner. In tribute to the successes of the three or perhaps to introduce herself, the also Swedish vocalist has certainly grasped our attention.

The video also serves the launching point for a new partnership between SHM and Volvo, with the Swedish car manufacturer announcing that the song will be part of its global advertising campaign for the new 2014 XC60 Crossover. -MixMag

However, this is not the first time we’ve heard her sing these alternative vocals. Starring on Adrian Lux‘s self-titled album “Adrian Lux”, Lune made her first appearance and debut into Dance with Lux’ “Fire” which since excelled with help from remix artists Rehab, Jeremy Orlander and Mikael Weermets. The track at hand however was the bonus track off said album form 2010, “Leave The World Behind” an original featuring Lune, and the vocals you hear in the video.

The twins that make up Milk N Cookies are growing on us at an alarming rate. Breaking past the norms of progressive and electro, these two guys continue to bring FREE and genuinely amazing tracks to us every month. Last time around we caught their original track “Ghosts“, a  self-described “f*cking righteous” track that combined the hardest grinding synths with elastic sounds that were truly haunting. Today they blow us away yet again.

Okay heres something rather genius. Combining the world-renowned melody from the Titanic film, Celine Dion‘s “My Heart Will Go On”, the duo strays far from late ’80s pop with their take. Creating more of a HOLY SHIP!!! vibe than a Titanic one, the guys create their own tribal track with notes big enough to clear icebergs. Certainly never done before, these guys test waters of their own with a nostalgic take on both electro and tribal house. Stay Lifted!

Each track ranges from 8-10 minutes, which is quite rare these days especially for dance releases. All three tracks are quite amazing and bring a different sound element to the table. But we have got to say that our favorite track has to be Lycanthrope. Longest track out of the three, it builds early and immediately drops you into a world of dance. The track is just grimy enough to get you in a steady groove and though it might sound silly, during your listen you might feel as if a wolf is chasing you down.

The Martin Garrix Show indeed. Since his burst into the Top 40 Dance scene late last year, his world wide shows, incredible collabs and Spinnin’ Records campaigns have shown us age is no restriction. Turning 17 yesterday, the young DJ / producer has over 20,000 Facebook likes, deals with Dance majors and still can’t drive a car. Martin Garrix & Julian Jordan Dropped “BFAM” Last Year, Which Kills

Rumored to be a mega collaboration between GTA, Martin Garrix and Sidney Samson, we find that now GTA is off the title at least as Spinnin TV withdrew any indication of talent on the record. After hearing this though … nothing else will matter. If you found Sandro Silva’s “Epic” big, or “Hit It” then this is going to make your day. Easily the biggest track of the month, it is going to take a lot to top this tribal monster.

BREAKING: Following a court proceeding and a hefty $1.8 Million bail out, Pasquale Rotella, Insomniac Events CEO and founder is being faced with 29 accounts of bribary, embezzelment, conspiracy and conflict of interest. While the company has been rumored to have had rocky times in Los Angeles behind the scenes, it seems the facts are beginning to come out publicly and are looking extremely costly.

“Rotella, owner of Insomniac events, allegedly used more than $2.5 million in funds from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum towards paying off city officials. According to reports, he used the coliseum to host raves or all-night parties.”

While the final numbers with come in July 29th at a hearing, Pasquale Rotella and five other co-conspirators will likely spend over a decade in prison if found quilty on allegations. Just yesterday Rotella and fiance Holly Madison (a famous Playboy figure) announced their plans to marry after the birth of their child this past March.

“Rotella’s attorney, Gary Jay Kaufman, said the charges are “politically motivated and publicity driven” and feels confident his client will be found innocent.”

However, innocent is the last way the city of Los Angeles is feeling like describing Rotella. While he may have been only arrested this past March, the drug-related 2010 death of one 15-year-old Sasha Rodriguez at an Insomniac show led the company through 13 months of investigation and endless shots of foul play, which in the end has led to where the CEO and his five team members are today. For everyone’s sake, we hope such violent accusations are much less scary than they seem.

Live Nation To Buy Stake In Insomniac Events

What this will mean for Insomniac, whether it will sway buyouts from Live Nation and how it will impact the future of EDC events are still to be seen.
